katiescarlett-speaks: The pictures on the left range from grades 3-6. My life with my eating disorder and body dysmorphia began here, a horrible battle with self hate and hurt. Seeing these childhood photos this week wasn’t just nostalgic, it was sad. It allowed me to see the girl I forgot I was. So often as we grow up we don’t have proper perspective to se who and what we really are because the opinions of others are shaping our impressionable minds. What were the things that shaped me? You are fat and because you are fat you are ugly, unloveable, unwanted and deserve to be treated badly. Bullying wasn’t the only thing that caused this, but it was big part of what spurred on this overwhelming self …

katiescarlett-speaks: This poem is about my struggle with living as someone Fibromyalgia and Mental Illness and the constant pressure we (can be applied to anyone really) endure living in a society that is driven by consumerism, industry, and productivity. It speaks to my feelings of seeking solitude and peace in a world that is constantly moving and refuses to allow any moments for recovery to recuperate for the days ahead of us. How can we help and love others if we can’t even take care of ourselves and help ourselves?

“I mustache you a question!”(Trigger warning: Mentions weight loss, GI disorders)Really though, I felt okay at the moment this was taken despite having a GI condition that makes it harder to lose weight or digest food properly. It also causes severe abdominal pain and heavy bloating. Lately, I’ve been trying out food elimination to help my doctor (and myself) figure out what is causing the underlying problem and it’s been very blah. It kind of blows when you are told you have to eliminate something so expansive such as dairy or all gluten containing products. Even worse when you find out that some of the gluten-free and dairy free products contain soy, which you also might be reactive to. It tends to severely reduce the …

This year, but particularly this week, I’ve made some huge strides with my body positivity. I’ve always struggled with self-image. I was always a larger kid, I’ve actively thought about my body and it’s weight since first grade when my teacher weighed us and measured our height to show us how much we changed at the end of the year. People have pointed out my weight. It’s been a source of embarrassment for me throughout my childhood. The thought of working somewhere with a predetermined uniform scares me, because I’m afraid they won’t have my size. I will avoid walking through a pathway of chairs so I don’t bump anyone. I’ll avoid going to the doctor because I don’t want to see the scale or be …

Hey, it’s this Tumblog again! I took a really long absence from Tumblr due to moving and some personal feelings toward a large chunk of the Internet (the culture at least). However, I am happy to have found this one again, because it was really fantastic as it celebrated all body types, not just a small margin.I’ve been feeling more myself by dressing how I want, even if that means I get looks from people who wonder what the fuck I’m doing. I actually met a wonderful person where I currently live who inspired me to return to this style of dress, even if it isn’t for everyone and even if I am older than most of the people who might otherwise dress in a similar …
