Try to be more verbal in your want to help her. Do some research on bulimia and try to get a better understanding of it so you can give her more In depth help. It’s hard to stand by and watch someone deteriorate so the only way you can do anything is by supporting her and really wanting to help. Recommend seeking help and if she refuses just try to love and care for her. And I know that’s shitty but if she doesn’t want help then that’s the best you can do. Em

There are certain things that a therapist isn’t required to tell your parents. I would look into specific things that your state/country requires them to tell. I know discussing your disorder isn’t a required thing to talk about in NJ just specific things that would cause physical harm to you or others pretty much (ie self harm or the threatening of others etc). Trying to talk through it with a therapist would be best especially if you don’t have a parent figure. I also am empathetic to the language barrier as my fathers side is Hispanic and no one really understands the culture or problems that we face due to the society we’ve been put in. I am so proud that you tell yourself not to purge. This is the best way to deter yourself. If the feeling persists, try to go for a walk, call a friend, watch a movie, draw, etc! Distracting yourself is the best way to stop a purge. And some people can start like this but everyone’s experience is unique to their own situation. Em

Although a technical requirement for a specific eating disorder is a specific BMI, having other symptoms qualifys you as well. Try not to focus on things like BMI or it can make your disorder worse :/ Talking to your parents is the best option you have if you feel comfortable with them. Try telling them how you feel, what causes the purges, etc. maybe ask to see a nutritionist. Personally I wrote a letter to my dad which helped me get my thoughts in order and allow it so he didn’t have to see me cry. Em

Everyone feels differently after purging. There are no right or wrong feelings to have, everyone has a unique reaction. Personally I would be sad and then shower and be fine. Em

Darling, Having a pre-existing medical condition isn’t going to make it easier to have an eating disorder, it’s going to take an even greater toll on your body. Please try and seek help, you can’t stress your organs like this. Boys are fucking rude and so are girls. You will learn that it really doesn’t matter what they think, you are gorgeous. Em
