Have an Attitude of Gratitude
Thanksgiving is a wonderful day to focus on all we have to be grateful for. This simple gratitude journal prompt will help you approach every day with an attitude of gratitude.
Attitude of Gratitude Journal
Taking a moment to feel gratitude for your meal is an important part of mindful eating. It helps us shift from a love-hate relationship with food to one of appreciation. And since you eat multiple times a day, pausing to feel grateful before you dive in automatically increases your opportunities to experience gratitude. (Watch this video: Food Gratitude Meditation)
To take your attitude of gratitude to the next level, try this Mindful Eating for Students “homework” assignment. It’s a favorite in my class at Arizona State University where students often remark how impactful it is, so I thought you might enjoy it too.
Prompt: Each day, pause to write down three things you are grateful for.
Here’s the magic sauce: Do not repeat anything from prior entries! As you move through your day, look for new things to be grateful for. This has the powerful effect of expanding your awareness to notice things you’d otherwise overlook.
What you focus on expands. As you focus on everything you have to be grateful for, you’ll discover more joy and peace!
