katiescarlett-speaks: The pictures on the left range from…
The pictures on the left range from grades 3-6. My life with my eating disorder and body dysmorphia began here, a horrible battle with self hate and hurt.
Seeing these childhood photos this week wasn’t just nostalgic, it was sad. It allowed me to see the girl I forgot I was. So often as we grow up we don’t have proper perspective to se who and what we really are because the opinions of others are shaping our impressionable minds.
What were the things that shaped me?
You are fat and because you are fat you are ugly, unloveable, unwanted and deserve to be treated badly. Bullying wasn’t the only thing that caused this, but it was big part of what spurred on this overwhelming self hate, depression and the wish to be done with it all.
I don’t think people recognize how powerful their impact can be one someone. Good or bad.
Make your impact in other people’s lives positive, learn that kindness is never going to hurt you.
And if you struggle with an #eatingdisorder #selfharm or #depression remember that you are still that young child inside and you deserve love and kindness and compassion.
